Boat Dives

• Rebecca Rocks

A 10 minute boat journey, Rebecca rocks is located between Texada and Harwood Islands.  A rocky outcropping rising just above the high tide mark, Rebecca offers an abundance of life and is every changing, with various species of fish from perch to flat fish to dogfish and sand sharks, your eyes fill with excitement, also not to forget the plant life, nudibranch and of course the ever playful seals, This Rock is home to about a hundred or so and they are ever curious.  This is recommended for every one and ranges in depth from 30 to 100 ft.

• Vivian Island

Located off of the South-western tip of Harwood Island, Vivian is home to various bird colonies and to the wreck of the Shamrock, a 76-ft tug. A heritage site, the island is also home to various cloud sponges, rockfish, and seals.  Vivian can be a three in one dive with a shallow dive, wreck dive or you could go over the edge and do a wall dive to admire the various sponges standing out from the wall.  The wreck is located in 40-60 ft of water.  This dive is recommended for intermediate or advanced divers as currents can be strong and there is lots of boat traffic seasonally.

• Mystery Reef

Located between Harwood and Savary Islands Mystery Reef is truly a mystery. For the diver that wants an exploration dive this is the place, a virtually untapped and unexplored area.  With a table top area of 8’ – 30’ and about ½ mile across it drops off the sides to 150’ plus.  And so every dive is a new dive.  It is said that there is a keel of a ship there made out of lead weighing 600 lbs  (think of all the weight belts you could make.)  This is a dive for the intermediate diver over the sides because of currents, and for all on the tabletop,  great snorkelling as well.

• Capilano Wreck

Located just off of Grants reef the Capilano is 120 ft long and 10 ft high and sits in 120ft of water. Sinking in 1915, the vessel is covered in marine life and still almost fully intact.   This wreck is situated basically out in the middle of nowhere so weather conditions dictate a trip to this site, and with the remoteness of the site a charter operator is a must.  This dive is recommended for the advanced diver because depth, current, and the wreck itself.

• Gulf Stream Wreck

Located at Dinner Rock, the Gulf Stream struck aground and sank on south side of the Rock in approx 140-150 ft at the bow and 180 + at the stern.  This is a phenomenal dive for the Tech diver and is worth at least 3 dives or more to take it all in.  This dive is recommended for the most advanced or tech divers as deco procedures are needed to enjoy this dive.

Iron Mines

Located just south of Lund, the Iron Mines are a wall / drift dive with a seeming less bottom below you at depths of over 500 ft, you feel as though you are in the abyss,  the walls are covered with red and white anemones, brilliant white cloud sponges, sea stars, and numerous other sea life. This is also a nice relaxing slow drift dive allowing you to get those breathtaking pictures you want. Recommended for the intermediate to advanced diver.
